We are committed to children at St. Andrew's!

We want our children to learn about the love of God in a safenurturing, and loving environment.

Safeguarding God's Children

One aspect of our children's participation in church we are committed to is their safety at all timesTo that end, at St. Andrew's we follow strictly the guidelines of the Episcopal Church and our Diocese (The Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas) regarding the policy known as "Safeguarding God's Children."

Safeguarding God's Children is a program which deals with prevention of any type of child abuse. Safeguarding God's Children provides participants with the information they need to protect the children they know and care for in their personal lives and the ministries in which they serve. The program is based on the philosophy that if every adult can protect just one child, they will forever change one life. If we can all change one life, together we will make a difference in this generation of children. As part of this policy, all adults working with children must have completed the Safeguarding training, will have undergone background checks, and at all times at church there should be at least two adults in a room with a child who is not one's own.

The nursery provides a safe and loving environment for children ages infant—5 yrs.

Our nursery caregivers are carefully screened by the Coordinator of Christian Education.  All nursery staff members are required to attend the Safeguarding God’s Children class.

Parents receive pagers when they drop their children off at the nursery in case they need to be summoned during services.

CHILDREN'S CHAPEL (during the School Year)

Children's Chapel is the location for "fun Bible learning." It follows the lectionary calendar with an age appropriate story told from one of the readings each Sunday. Gather at 10:25 on Sundays during the school year.

Growing with God (3 and 4 years Old)

Children in this class gather in St. Nicholas Room in Lowndes Hall and are encouraged to explore different "stations" of learning about God and worship together and with their teachers.

WEAVING GOD'S PROMISES (5 years through 2nd  Grade--during the School Year)

Children in this class gather at 9:30 AM every Sunday in the St. Francis room of Lowndes Hall. The kids will learn how we became God's people with stories of individual encounters with Jesus and how that transforms in God's love.

MUSTARD SEED (3rd through 5th Grades--during the School Year)

Kids meet in St. Elizabeth, downstairs, of Lowndes Hall. We follow a wonderful curriculum from Liturgical Resources from the Episcopal Church, which allows for the kids to talk about their growing faith, but also discuss issues going on in their lives and have fun with others. Each week, the class has fun talking about different topics related to faith and life as a child of God.
