SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Summer 2019

CREATING COMMUNITY: EXPLORING GOD'S LOVE THROUGH BIBLE STORIES, Parish Hall for all ages.

LOVING GOD WITH YOUR WHOLE SELF, St. Catherine's Room, Room #1

Sundays 9:30-10:15 am, June 2nd to August 25th

We are excited to announce our Summer 2019 Sunday School classes, which are designed around building community with our St. Andrew's family through Bible stories.

June and July
Creating Community: Exploring God’s Love through Bible Stories
(Parish Hall, All Ages)
In ancient times, the Bible was not a book. It was stories, often told around a campfire, and passed down over and over, generation after generation, forming the basis of our Christian tradition. Children snuggled in, surrounded by extended families and neighbors. Cold and dark were pushed away by the light and warmth of not just the fire but the community. Join us for a Bible study like you have never seen before. Experience God’s love and build community with your St. Andrew’s family as we explore a different Bible story each week.

June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Loving God with Your Whole Self
(St. Catherine’s Room, Adults)
What does it mean to love God fully, engaging your feelings, soul, and body, and then share that love with your neighbor? Join us as we delve deep into the passages, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5) and “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27).
Love (June 2), Soul (June 9), Strength (June 16), Heart (June 23), Neighbor (June 30)

July 14, 21, 28
Expanding Your Faith Through Celtic Spirituality
(St. Catherine’s Room, Adults)
What is Celtic spirituality? Do you feel a deep connection to God’s creation? Do you want to deepen your spiritual life? Join us and explore a deeper connection with God and the world around us. We will use The Celtic Vision edited by Esther de Waal as a reference.
July 14: Introduction to the Celts and their spirituality
July 21: Prayers for creation and everyday events
July 28: Prayers for different stages of life

August 4, 11, 18, 25
Bless and Go! (Parish Hall, All Ages)
St. Andrews is rooted in a tradition of service. Each year we collect various items for different community organizations. Would you like to hear how our service impacts our community? Join us each week as a guest speaker from the various organizations we help explains the ways St. Andrew’s continues to bless those in our community. Then, get to work as we collect, organize, or assemble the projects we complete for those in need in our community.
August 4: Filling backpacks
August 11: Brown bag runs
August 18: Blessing bags for the homeless
August 25: TBA

Seekers and Newcomers.  St. Sophia’s Room, #2

Sundays 9:00-10:15 am, Will resume September 15th

Class Facilitators: Father Robert Pace, Mother Jill Walters

St. Andrew’s Seekers & Newcomers Class is for anyone seeking God, desiring to grow in the Christian faith, and wishing to grow more in this beautiful and deeply spiritual faith tradition. We are open to everyone, whether you are brand new to church or are a long-time member. This is a “come and explore” opportunity, with no obligations placed on anyone who attends. At the end of this class, you may wish to be confirmed, baptized, received, or reaffirmed in the church.  This class relates to the Way of Love practices of “Worship,” “Learn,” and “Turn.”  In Worship, we gather in community to dwell on God through our faith tradition.  In Learn, we learn about our faith through Scripture and the Book of Common Prayer.  In Turn, we pause, listen, and choose to follow Jesus.
