6:30 PM St. Brigid's Prayer Shawl Ministry
Third Thursday of the month, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
In January, 2010, St. Andrew's began a ministry of making prayer shawls for those in our parish community and beyond who are especially in need of a tangible expression of love and prayer. The organizing group adopted the name -- St. Brigid's Guild -- in recognition of the Irish saint who legend says wove cloth of miraculous powers. Members meet on the 3rd Thursday evenings at 6:30 in St. Gregory's room of Lowndes Hall for knitting or crocheting, food and fellowship. All are welcome, both men and women! Come join them to support people in need of prayer and comfort. They will teach you to knit. Every stitch is knitted by loving hands and helped by caring prayers.
The recipients need not be ill or dying, nor personal friends or family. The group has given many prayer shawls to parishioners, friends, and loved ones who are in need of extra prayer and love. Recipients have ranged in age from birth to 90. To suggest a possible recipient of a prayer shawl, please contact Barbara Jensen, coordinator, at 806-678-2827. Barbara prefers text messages if possible.
